Today we are going to talk about an amazing hikes through some Christmas Trees. Whenever I think of a hike through Christmas Trees I always think of Colorado. The highest rated hike that I could find is the Cathedral Lake Trail. It may be a little too late for you to take this hike with the family. I doubt any of you are looking to Clark Griswold a tree and bring it home at this point. However, there is always next year and there is always some after Christmas hiking you can do to work off some holiday food.
Cathedral Lake Trail is considered a great day hike by most everyone. This isn’t an incredibly long hike, it clocks in at only 5.6 miles roundtrip. This hike does come with a difficult elevation gain if you aren’t used to it. If you do take this hike you get to see some beautiful aspen groves, spruce-fir forests and pretty meadows along the way. As soon as you park your car get ready for elevation gain. As soon as you step on the trail you will become to climb up.
The hike is well worth the toughness of the elevation gain. Not only do you get to see amazing trees and meadows along the way but you finish at an alpine lake. This beautiful lake is surrounded by granite peaks and crags. It is nestled right beneath Cathedral Peak. After spending a day with friends and family indoors this could be a great hike to take the family on. Maybe you prefer a little solitude after the busy Christmas season. Whatever it is you are looking for I think Cathedral Lake will have it. This is truly a day hike you do not want to miss!
