Castle Rock Trail California

This weekend one of my lifelong dreams gets fulfilled. This weekend I get to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers live. No band, to my knowledge, is tied more to an area that the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The Peppers are the quintessential band of Southern California. In my own way this article is paying homage to the Chili Peppers by writing about a top hike found in Southern California. Today we will take a look at Castle Rock Trail.

Castle Rock Trail is found in the San Bernardino National Forest. This trail is described as moderate even though it comes in at 2.7 miles out and back. Castle Rock Trail is considered heavily trafficked mainly because of all the activities you can do. There are two on trail campgrounds and you can bird watch on this trail. Dogs are also allowed which is a huge plus for those of us that like to bring along our fur babies.

Some of the views you can see on the Castle Rock Trail are towering lodge pole pines, large granite boulders, and a small stream that trickles past you. What is nice about getting away from the heavily populated area is the chance to breath in some fresh clean air. Some of the websites I researched talked extensively about how nice it was to escape the smog and pollution by hiking this trail. Some websites even rate this as the number one hike in Southern California.

One thing that always fascinates me about California is the vast opportunities of outdoor activities one can do. Just a few hours drive from Castle Rock Trail one could go surfing. Also a trip up North allows you to go skiing or snowboarding. If you want to see what the state of California is capable of just watch the Californication music video.
