Why Get A Jeep Winch?
Why Get A Jeep Winch?
I see a lot of jeeps driving around the town I live in. Living in an area that is peppered with a lot of student pilots means a lot of young adults with a decent amount of money to spend on cars. I see a lot of convertibles and cars that exist somewhere in the fast and furious world, but what I see most is tricked out jeeps. The thing I see most on these pristine, never seen the mud jeeps, is a winch. Seeing a winch on these jeeps reminds me of Bluetooth headphones when they first arrived in the tech world. The only people that ever used them immediately got the stigma of being a snob. Maybe seeing all these fresh out of the academy, early twenties pilots have a winch they never use, gave me a bad taste for it. However, that got me thinking why does the jeep winch even exist?
The jeep winch is used to get yourself unstuck. This may come as no shock to most of you who actually off-road. Think about it, most people have the jeep to enjoy getting muddy on the weekends. No matter how many times you have been off-roading there is still a chance you will get stuck. Road conditions can change with the tiniest amount of rain fall or heavy traffic in the area. The winch is a great tool to have. Not only do you look more credible if you get stuck but all other jeep owners will see that your winch is more than just an accessory.
Putting on a winch kit isn’t merely adding a new top to your jeeps decorum. There are a few things you need to consider when adding a winch. First, make sure you have a tree strap in your winch kit. The whole purpose of our website is to promote the beauty of the outdoors. If our readers are out there destroying trees than we are not doing our jobs. Enjoy the outdoors but respect the outdoors. Next, make sure you have a good set of gloves. We don’t want anyone coming out with unnecessary injuries. Next, get yourself a bumper that can support a winch kit. Remember when off-roading that your new bumper probably has a different angle, so be more cautious the first couple of times getting muddy. Last, make sure you have a good battery. If you get stuck and need to pull yourself out a good battery is vital. Your winch kit will be pulling 4 tons out of the mud. The last thing you want is your battery to die while you are stuck in the mud.
